HTC One M10 Vs Samsung Galaxy S7: What we know so far

Korean tech giant Samsung unwrapped its latest flagship, the Galaxy S7, at this year’s MWC in Barcelona in February and subsequently launched the phone in India recently. Now Samsung’s one of the biggest competitors in the Asian markets, HTC is all set to unveil its latest flagship, the One M10 or M10 or just HTC 10 on April 12th. Since the Galaxy S7 is official, we know that the phone flaunts an excellent design, powerful configuration, great camera features and more. The HTC One M10 is yet to go official, but the rumour-mill has already revealed quite a few specifications of the device.

HTC One M10 vs Samsung Galaxy S7: what’s the difference?


The Samsung Galaxy S7 flagships metallic frames running around all four edges of the device. There’s 3D glass on both the front and back of the smartphone. The phone measures 7.9mm around the waist and weighs 152 grams, and gets IP68 certification for dust and water resistance. The device gets a fingerprint sensor integrated into the home buttons, and a heart rate sensor besides the rear camera. The HTC One M10 on the other hand is expected to sport a unibody metal design with a fingerprint sensor in the home button along with dust and water resistance. It will also be packing in the best BoomSound speakers found on the HTC phones till date. However, it won’t be packing in a heart rate sensor, since HTC hasn’t yet shown much interest in smartphone biometrics. Overall, the Galaxy S7 and HTC One M10 offer premium and appealing designs, but have a few differences here and there.

Display and OS

Coming to the display, the Samsung Galaxy S7 flaunts a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED display with a screen resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 (2K) pixels and a pixel density of 577 pixels per inch. It offers one of the best media viewing experiences available on the Galaxy flagships. The HTC One M10 on the other hand will be packing in a 5.1-inch quad-HD AMOLED display with a pixel density of 576ppi. Overall, in the display section, they offer quite similar features. As for the OS, the Galaxy S7 runs Android Marshmallow with the TouchWiz UI on top. The HTC One M10 is also expected to run Android Marshmallow out of the box layered with HTC’s Sense 8 UI on top.


Samsung has launched the Galaxy S7 in India with its in-house octa-core 64-bit Exynos 8890 SoC, which offers quad-cores running at 2.3GHz and four cores spinning at 1.6GHz. Its performance is further enhanced by 4GB of RAM. The phone comes in 32GB and 64GB of internal memory variants, and accepts microSD card for further storage expansion. The HTC One M10 on the other hand will be powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 820 processor, aided by 4GB of RAM. So in the performance department, the Galaxy S7 and HTC M10 will offer the same user experience. However, when it comes to the storage, the One M10 will only be available in a single 32GB variant, but will sport a microSD card slot for further expansion of memory.


Moving on to the camera, the Samsung Galaxy S7 sports a Dual Pixel 12MP primary camera with a dual-tone LED flash, Smart Optical Image Stabilisation, and f/1.7 aperture. For video-callings and selfie purposes, the device offers a 5-megapixel secondary shooter with f/1.7 aperture. The HTC One M10 on the other hand is expected to be equipped with a 12MP UltraPixel primary shooter with laser-assisted phase detection autofocus, optical image stabilisation, 4K recording and f/1.9 aperture. For self-portraits, it will sport a 5-megapixel secondary snapper on the front. Overall, the Samsung Galaxy S7 and HTC One M10 offer some of the best imaging capabilities found on the smartphones in their price range.

Connectivity and battery

Talking about the connectivity features, the Samsung Galaxy S7 offers hybrid dual-SIM slots, 4G LTE support, dual-band Wi-Fi for faster web browsing and downloading experience, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, USB 2.0 and NFC. The HTC One M10 is expected to offer similar connectivity options as the Galaxy S7. When it comes to the battery, the Galaxy S7 packs in a 3,000mAh unit, and the upcoming One M10 is also expected to offer the same capacity.


The Samsung Galaxy S7 is one of the best flagship smartphones the Korean tech giant has ever produced. The HTC One M10 is also expected to be a better flagship offering than its predecessor, the One M9. The Galaxy S7 and One M10 offer quite similar specifications. The Galaxy S7 has the advantage of a heart rate sensor and two internal memory variants choice, which are missing on the One M10. However, the HTC One M10 will offer a metal unibody design and best BoomSound speakers for immersive media viewing experience. The Galaxy S7 has been priced at Rs 48,900, while the One M10 is expected to be priced between Rs 45,000 and Rs 50,000 in the country.
